　マイクロソフトは、Windows 10から11へのアップグレードを段階的に実施し、2022年半ばまでに、すべての対象端末でアップグレードを完了できるようになると説明する。だが、Windows 11への更新には、利用端末が同OSの要求する要件に達していなくてはならず、対象端末が要件を満たすかを確認するアプリ「PC正常性チェック」を無償提供している。　一見、マイクロソフトの誘導に沿っていればスムーズにWindows 11に移行できるように見えるが、実際のところ更新には、懸念点が多く指摘されているのが実情だ。そのあたりについて整理してみよう。

　Windows 11はPCに求めるシステム要件が比較的高いことに注意が必要だ。CPUについては、動作周波数1ギガヘルツ以上で2コア以上の64ビット互換プロセッサ、またはSystem on a Chip （SoC）としている。メモリは4ギガバイト、ストレージは64ギガバイト以上が最低ラインだ。映像の出力は、DirectX 12以上に対応するグラフィックスカード、ドライバーモデルはWDDM 2.0以上としている。

　IT資産管理ソフトウェアを手掛けるLansweeperが、6万組織が持つ約3000万台のWindows端末を対象に実施した調査によると、多数の企業が今後何年にもわたって、Windows 10を使い続ける可能性を示唆している。　マイクロソフトが示したWindows 11のCPU要件を満たすマシンは44％にとどまり、セキュリティ機能を提供するマイクロチップである「Trusted Platform Module（TPM）2.0」の要件を満たすものも52％ほどしかなかった。　一方、RAMの容量については、91％とほとんどが満たしていた。なおTPMの一例としては、Windowsでデバイスのストレージを暗号化してデータを保護する「BitLocker」での利用が挙げられる。　また、大企業が導入する場合に、IT要件の問題がもう1つある。VMwareやHyper-V、Oracle VM Virtual Boxなどの仮想マシン（VM）基盤にも、マイクロソフトが提示するハードウェア要件が求められることである。Lansweeperは「VMにおけるCPUの互換性はPCをわずかに上回る44.9％だが、RAMについて満たしているのは66.4％にとどまる」と指摘。　さらに問題なのは、TPM2.0を有効にしている仮想ワークステーションが0.23％しかないということである。このため、仮想マシンのワークステーションのほとんどは、仮想マシンをTPMに対応させるためのTPMパススルーであるvTPMを導入しない限り、Windows 11にアップグレードできないのである。【次ページ】Windows 11で頻発している不具合リスト
