[iOS11] How to turn on "dark mode" that changes the screen to black

Use the new Invert Colors feature

A feature called "Invert (Smart)" allows you to invert colors in images, media, apps with dark color styles, and anything other than the home screen. You can.

If you use it in an app based on white, it will invert the color, so the base color will be black.

Although there was an inversion function so far, it was inconvenient to use it as a so-called dark mode because it inverts the colors of all elements.

Safari webpages and third-party apps not included

Most standard apps do not invert colors for images or apps with dark color styles as described, so leave it on can be used.

On the other hand, web pages displayed in Safari seem to be out of scope. Images such as buttons and photos are displayed with their colors reversed.

If you use the reader function, you can display the image without inverting it, but you can set a dark color for the background color when displaying with the reader function, so you don't need to use the inverting function.

Most of the apps made by other companies do not support this function, so the image is reversed.

If you copy an image from a web page and paste it into a compatible memo app, it will be displayed without being flipped.

How to quickly turn on/off the flipping function

Some apps can use the new flipping function and some apps can't.

So let's set it so that pressing the home button three times in a row toggles the inversion feature on and off.

Open the Settings app [General] → [Accessibility] and tap [Shortcuts] at the bottom.

Tap [Invert Colors (Smart)] and check it.

Now you can toggle the inversion feature on and off by pressing the home button three times in quick succession.
