4K pass-through compatible iPad-linked streaming BOX "LIVE ARISER" GV-LS MIXER / I released by IO Data Device in late August.
"LIVE ARISER" can be said to be the brand name of I-O Data's (live distribution only) devices that can perform live distribution on platforms such as YouTube Live and Facebook Live. This GV-LS MIXER / I is the "second product" of "LIVE ARISER".
By the way, it was in February this year that the GV-LS BOX was released with the first "stand-alone type" live streaming BOX that can record and deliver video in real time without a PC.
Only half a year after that, he said that he was seeing the movement to propose this "iPad-linked" streaming BOX "GV-LSMIXER / I, which can intuitively create elaborate distribution screens on an iPad without the need for a PC. , Io Data, one of the long-established PC peripheral equipment manufacturers, is now through live streaming BOX (a dedicated machine for live distribution that does not require a PC) as well as the standard items such as video capture and audio capture. I feel that I can get a glimpse of the enthusiasm (strategy) to focus more on the field of live distribution that is attracting attention (especially focusing on genres such as live games and seminars).
In addition, "dedicated machine for live distribution" has the image of a device used by people who specialize in live distribution from companies, so-called live distribution agency work, and specialized in it. It has been released by the manufacturer.
These products, which were a bit of a niche, have been branded as "LIVE ARISER" by I-O Data, and are aimed at people who are closer to consumers (general people who did not know livestreaming until now). I feel that going out is a good opportunity to further spread the live distribution that is becoming familiar to the general public.
By the way, his GV-LS MIXER / I, which is the second "LIVE ARISER", is equipped with "up to 3 HDMI input (HDMI IN) terminals" for connecting game consoles, personal computers, video cameras, etc. Of these, HDMI 1 supports 4K input.
HDMI 2 has two terminals, A and B, and a total of three game consoles and camcorders can be connected, but what can be output as video (PGM) for the viewer to see (HDMI 1 and HDMI 2). It should be noted that there is a limit of 2 units (either one of A / B).
On the other hand, for video output (MONITOR OUT), you can check the video (PGM) that the viewer sees and the HDMI1 / 2 input by connecting the display to the SRC / PGM terminal (“output switching (SRC / PGM) on the top surface). If you connect it to the HDMI 1 THROUGH terminal, you can pass through the HDMI 1 input (it is not affected by pressing the 1-8 screen switching button on the top to switch the PGM).
It's good to plug two devices into HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 of HDMI IN respectively, but in his GV-LSMIXER / I, plug a game console or computer into HDMI 1 and a camera into HDMI 2 A / B. It seems to be a standard combination.
In this form, you can check the screen of the game console or PC with the display connected to the HDMI 1 THROUGH terminal, and on the other hand, the display connected to the SRC / PGM terminal to see what the viewer is looking at now. It is convenient because it can be confirmed with.
On the audio side, it has a microphone input terminal (MIC IN) that connects a microphone with a phone jack and an audio input terminal (LINE IN) that connects an external audio device with RCA.
And the USB port on the left side of the voice input terminal (LINE IN) is for using when updating the firmware, and the LAN port is live-streamed from his GV-LSMIXER / I on platforms such as YouTube and Facebook. It is used to do.
On the right side is an earphone terminal for checking the delivered audio, and his TABLET port that connects to the iPad with the attached dedicated connection cable.
Note that the iPad for controlling the GV-LSMIXER / I is this TABLET port on the right side (not from the USB port on the back).
The attached "dedicated" connection cable is required to connect the GV-LSMIXER / I to the compatible iPad series.
If you use iPad Pro with USB Type-C terminal, use the connection cable (Type-C), and if you use the iPad series with Lightning terminal, Apple's "Lightning-USB 3 Camera Adapter" or "Lightning-USB Camera Adapter" Prepare separately and connect with a connection cable (Type-A).
And the iPad / iPad Pro connected to GV-LSMIXER / I will not be charged during use. It is recommended to operate while supplying power by using "USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter" and "Lightning-USB 3 Camera Adapter".
Let's take a look at the top of GV-LSMIXER / I.
The left side is surrounded by a white frame, which is the audio setting part. After switching (selecting) with the voice adjustment buttons labeled "PGM", "HDMI1", "HDMI2", "MIC IN", and "LINE IN", you can mute the selected voice with the "MUTE" button, or "HDMI1". "HDMI 2" "AFV (Audio Follows Video)" button on / off, operate the volume control knob to raise or lower the selected audio.
"Output switching (SRC / PGM button)" to switch the video (HDMI1 / HDMI2 / PGM) displayed on the display connected to the SRC / PGM terminal on the back, and "Distribution start button" to start and stop live distribution (STREAM) "and" Pause button "are lined up.
Below that is the "Screen (SCENES) switching button" from 1 to 8, which is the video source of the game console, computer, camera (such as) input to HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 A / B respectively. It is not a button to select, but a button to call up the screen display layout (up to 8) set in advance with the dedicated application "LIVE ACROSS" that runs on the iPad, such as video sources called "scenes", images, and texts.
And on the far right is the "CUT" button that switches screens without using effects when switching between these eight scenes, and the "AUTO" button that switches screens using effects. There is a "lever" that switches the screen while manually adjusting the switching speed.
Basically, if you can make some settings with the iPad application "LIVE ACROSS", you can actually switch the screen and adjust the volume with these buttons on the top.
The iPad app allows you to edit (set) the “scene”, check what the set “scene” looks like, and set the settings for live distribution from the GV-LSMIXER / I main unit. Must be done from "LIVE ACROSS".
You can select a video source (HDMI 1, HDMI 2 A / B, dual display, background) in "Media" and overlay up to 5 images and up to 30 texts on it as an "overlay".
A vertically split split or PinP layout that combines two video sources, HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 A / B, is also possible. Of course, you can freely choose the split position of the split and the size and position of the PinP.
Templates named "Demo", "Presentation", "Simple", "Game Console", and "Mobile Game" are also available, so if you find it difficult to create a "scene", create a new project. Sometimes it's also a good idea to use these templates.
It may be a good idea to select a template that is close to the situation, start from the “scene” template, change the text wording that suits you, or add your own image file. Maybe.
It is very convenient that these templates are prepared as standard in advance.
In the app "LIVE ACROSS", you can not only edit the "scene" but also adjust the volume from the app in the same way as operating the volume control knob that raises or lowers the sound of the main unit.
The mic gain (+ 30dB / + 24dB / + 18dB / + 12dB / + 6dB / 0dB 6 levels) and mode (mono / stereo) settings are from his MIC gear (setting) button on "LIVE ACROSS". The compressor settings can be adjusted from his PGM gear button.
To use GV-LSMIXER / I, you need to prepare an iPad / iPad Pro separately, but because of the iPad / iPad Pro, "you can intuitively edit" scenes "with touch operations" such an interface is available. It's surprisingly fun to touch.
I feel that not only the hardware buttons on the top of the main unit, but also the app "LIVE ACROSS" has been devised so that it can be operated intuitively even if it is the first time to operate it.
Of particular importance on the "Settings" tab of the app "LIVE ACROSS" is the "Stream" part of the livestreaming settings.
Streaming BOX "LIVE ARISER" GV-LS MIXER / I can send up to two streams at the same time such as YouTube Live and Facebook Live, and the streaming resolution is "1080p30" "720p30" "480p30", but the stream quality Can be set manually and up to 10,000Kbps.
If you don't know what value is appropriate, you can choose from "Standard definition (3072Kbps)", "High quality (4608Kbps)", and "Highest quality (6144Kbps)".
By the way, when I tested the transmission of two streams of 10,000 Kbps with GV-LSMIXER / I to YouTube Live, it delivered stably (although it is necessary to secure a high-speed network line). I was able to do it.
Recently, when delivering high-quality live distribution to multiple live distribution platforms at the same time, such live distribution dedicated equipment is often used even in the field of live distribution.
I want to create an environment that enables stable live distribution as much as possible! For those who think that, and for those who are thinking about live distribution for the first time, the number of devices dedicated to live distribution that can be operated intuitively like GV-LSMIXER / I will increase. , I think that it will also lead to the opportunity to gradually lower the height of the threshold of live distribution itself.
