"FaceTime" is more recommended than ZOOM and Teams 7

If you had an iPhone or Mac, FaceTime was the best way to contact your friends and family.

In fact, it was firmly integrated into iOS and worked well. However, when a pandemic occurred, Zoom ruled everything.

ZOOM is also a place for work, learning, interaction with families living away, and even social. For a while, FaceTime was worshiping the dust.

However, after updating iOS 15 and MacOS Monterey, Apple has been consciously updated to Facetime, and as a result, FaceTime can compete against competing products such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Of course, you may not be able to compete with the countless business functions and corporate functions provided by ZOOM.

But if you are looking for a simpler alternative means for free to hold the next meeting, game night, movie viewing party, etc., FaceTime may be a perfect candidate.

Here are some of the new features of FaceTime.

1.You can share the screen with "Shareplay"

iOS 15.1 and MacOS MONTEREY 12.With the "Shareplay" function installed in 1, it has finally become easier to share the screen.

On the Mac, click the "Shareplay" button on the toolbar and select "Window" or "Screen" to start sharing the screen.

You can change the window by using the "FaceTime" button on the menu bar, and you can stop sharing the screen at any time.

On the iPhone or iPad, tap the "Shareplay" button from the FaceTime toolbar and select "Share your screen" to start.

2.You can talk with a larger number of people with grid display

FaceTime gained lessons from Zoom and Microsoft Teams.FaceTime has already been able to talk with up to 32 people, but every time someone speaks, it has a strange interface where multiple faces on the screen move fluffy.

However, if you want to see everyone on the screen at once, you can enable "grid layout" on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

In the case of the iPhone, tap the control bar to open the optional menu and tap the "Grid layout" button.

In the case of iPad, tap the "Grid" icon on the upper right.

The same is true for Mac, but the "Grid" button will not be displayed unless the cursor is moved to the top toolbar.

3.Relax the background in "Portrait Mode"

On a Mac equipped with the latest iPhone, iPad, and Apple Silicon chips, FaceTime video calls can also be used as Zoom -like "portrait mode".

There are two ways to enable "Portrait Mode" in FaceTime video calls, one is to enable from the video call interface, and the other is to enable from the control center.

During the video call, first tap the video view to enlarge.

Next, tap the "Portrait Mode" button in the upper left.Alternatively, you can use the control center (swipe from the top right to the bottom from the upper right in the iPhone or iPad, and the icon of the control center on the menu bar on the Mac).

Here, tap the "Effect" button and turn on "Portrait Mode".You can also tap the "Portrait Mode" button at the top left of the video screen.

4.Good sound quality even in noisy environments

The sound quality is one of the few points that FaceTime is clearly dominant compared to Zoom and Google Meet. This is possible because Apple manages both hardware and software.

If you are using a Mac with the latest iPhone, iPad, and Apple Silicon, FaceTime can now improve sound quality.

In that case, two functions are active. The "separation of voice" functions automatically removes the noise of the background, focusing on the user's own voice.

On the other hand, the "wide spectrum" mode incorporates all sounds into the call.It is useful when you are taking music lessons or when you want to hear all the sounds during the call for another reason.

All of these features can be accessed from the "Mike Mode" of the iPhone, iPad, and Mac control center during FaceTime calls.

5.Windows and Android users can also invite FaceTime

There is no FaceTime app on both Windows and Android (if you find it on Play Store, it's a fraudulent app).

However, FaceTime works on the web and supports Android smartphones. So if you have the latest version of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, you can participate in FaceTime calls.

Open the FaceTime app and use "Create Link".Once a link is created, you can copy the link and share it with anyone. This procedure is explained in detail here.

6.You can enjoy movies, television and music together with "Shareplay"

It doesn't matter much from work, but you can use FaceTime to deepen interaction with other people, just like Zoom and Google Meet.

If you use "Shareplay", you can watch the same movie or TV program for everyone who participates in the group calls.Anyone who share the screen can control the playback, and anyone can add new media to the queue.

"Shareplay" works automatically, so just open the corresponding app and start playing the media.

iOS 15.1, iPados 15.1, and MacOS MONTEREY 12.It works after 1 or later. For more information, see the detailed guide (English) of "Shareplay".

7.You can generate FaceTime links in the calendar

Would you like to prepare a FaceTime link and schedule video calls? Then you can do it with a calendar app.

Open the calendar app and tap the " +" button to create a new event.

When creating an event, tap the location or video call box and select FaceTime. After adding details, save the event.

When you access the event, the FaceTime section with the "Participation" button and the "Sharing" button will be displayed.

Press the "Participation" button to start the meeting immediately. If you press the "Sharing" button, you can send the FaceTime link to the contact information.
