Announced new communication standard "Matter" for smart home.Ensuring compatibility between multiple devices
Connectivity Standards Alliance (formerly Zigbee Alliance) has announced the communication standard for smart home.
「Matter」のロゴ2019年12月にAmazon、Apple、Googleも参加するZigbee Allianceが表明したスマートホームの共通企画「Project Connected Home over IP（Project CHIP）」が、改めてMatterとして発表された。現在、Amazon、Apple、Google、IKEAなど180以上の企業と、1,700人以上の個人がMatterの仕様実現、実装に向けて参加しているという。Matterでは、Amazon Alexa、Apple HomeKit with Siri、Googleアシスタント、SmartThingsといった、スマートホームや音声サービスの互換性が確保できるため、デバイスの接続が簡単になるほか、複数ブランドのデバイスであっても、ネイティブに動作するという。2021年後半には、電球、照明器具、制御装置、プラグ、コンセント、ドアロック、センサー、検知器などのデバイスが認証を通過する見通し。Amazon、Google、Huawei、SmartThings、Texas Instrumentsを始めとしたブランドがMatterをいち早く採用するとしている。
