From 2022, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology will start a project to digitally transform (DX) experimental and practical training facilities for university education. We will support the purchase of equipment for national, public and private universities in practical education that utilizes advanced technology and data such as smart agriculture, IoT (Internet of Things), and medical diagnosis using artificial intelligence (AI). Approximately 60 projects were supported, including surveys and curriculum development through industry-academia collaboration. 7.5 billion yen will be included in the budget request for the fiscal 2022 budget.

Agricultural studies envision crop growth observation using sensors, robot agriculture, and IoT cultivation systems. It is expected to target sensor-equipped greenhouse cultivation equipment and information management systems. The engineering field uses big data, IoT, and simulation experiments with 3D molded models. In the medical field, AI is expected to be used for diagnosis and equipment operation.

We envision a curriculum that utilizes advanced technology, analyzes the collected data, and advances on-site efforts. The budget for each project is about 100 million to 200 million yen, and the maximum project period is three years.
