Just plug it into an outlet! Pre-orders for plug-in smart speaker "Amazon Echo Flex" open

Recently, Amazon announced a new smart speaker. Its name is "Echo Flex". It is a plug-in type that can be used by plugging it directly into an outlet, and it can be hung on the wall and does not take up much space.

And you can also voice control compatible smart appliances. The amount is 2,980 yen. It will be released in Japan on November 14th, but pre-orders have already started.

Echo Flex Brings Convenience Across Your House

Just plug it in, set it up, and start talking. Alexa will tell you the information you want, such as weather and train service information. As of March 2019, Alexa has over 2,500 skills.

Echo Flex can also talk to and send messages to family members on compatible Echo devices in other rooms. You can even make hands-free calls with friends who have Echo devices.

And you can control Alexa-enabled smart home appliances with voice control, so you can turn on the lights or control the climate control. It is also possible to lock it.

But the point is that you can put it anywhere. Even the smallest Echo Dot can be hard to find in your entryway or kitchen. As long as you have a Wi-Fi environment and an outlet, the Echo Flex can be installed simply by plugging it in.

You can attach a night light or motion sensor

Echo Flex has one USB Type-A port that not only allows you to charge your smartphone, but also has specially designed night lights and motion sensors. Additional sensors can be added (sold separately).

Since it is always installed on the wall with an outlet, it is nice to be able to use it as a night light as well. If you add a motion sensor to it, you can also turn on a smart light that has been connected via Wi-Fi in advance the moment you get home.

Of course, the Echo Flex can still be used as a device for listening to music and radio. In addition to the built-in speaker, you can connect to an external speaker with a 3.5mm stereo output terminal, and you can play music without touching the external speaker with a single word "Alexa play music".

However, personally, I would like to use a combination of night light and motion sensor.

I think the price of 2,980 yen is reasonable even for people who are using the Amazon Echo series for the first time. Why not give it a try and see how voice control can change your quality of life?
