The short film "Breathe", starring Nogizaka46 and actor Manriya Ito, was released on September 18.
Aki, the protagonist who transferred from Tokyo to a rural school after the divorce of his parents. While worried about her own identity between her "normal" and "special", she draws the secrets of Kiita, the popular school she met at her transfer destination, and grows. It has been well received, and the number of public theaters since October has continued to increase.
The director of this work is Yuka Eda (27).In 2018, when her first feature film "Girl Encounter" was released when she was 23 years old, it was an unusual hit.It was a six -year long -run screening, and was officially exhibited at the Hong Kong International Film Festival and Shanghai International Film Festival. It is characterized by a real and painful work that draws teenagers realistically.
Except for the branch of the branches, there are questions that seem to be young people every day. There are a lot of real voices that lead to works, such as anxiety about the future and the hardships of everyday. What is the attractiveness of the branches supported by the young generation? In addition to the film director, we talked to Mr. Shi, who is also active as a photographer.
"Breathe" Main visual
——You have been films since school days. Please tell me what made her want to make a movie work.
Yuka Eda (hereinafter referred to as a branch): In fact, I did not decide to become a film director from the beginning. She started learning a play when she was in elementary school.Originally I like movies, but at that time I didn't know how to get involved in the movie.I heard that a teacher who would teach me a play from Tokyo would come, and I started learning when I was in elementary school to get a chance to get involved with a movie.I lived in the countryside, so I jumped in because I thought it would be impossible to wait for an adult.
—— How did you start making works after that?
Branch: While learning the play, I felt that the side who played was not very interesting for me.I thought I would like to look at the people who hit the spotlight nearby.
After that, when I was a college student, I moved to Tokyo and entered the movie circle. So, while everyone was making the work, the person who was planning to be a director was gone one week before the shooting.I didn't decide who would fill the empty holes for about 3 hours, so I wanted to go home early, so I took on it.It was the first time I was the director.By the time I became a college student, I was working on a company and thinking about a way involved in movies, so I wouldn't have been a film director if that person did not escape (laughs).
--that's a coinsidence!By the way, you wanted to be involved with a movie from an early age, why were you strongly attracted to the movie?
Branch: Maybe because I had no friends when I was young. She went to a different nursery from her neighbors, so she didn't play much with her friends.I think I was watching a movie like a friend, as if it were a cheating of my lonely feelings and loneliness.Surely, if you talked more with your friends when you were young, you might have thought that you want to be a florist or a baseball player. But I didn't know any options other than a movie.
Also, it may be great that the movies and family memories are linked to me.My father loves movies, but he was busy and not very at home. However, I often go to the movie theater to watch a movie together several times a year, and I think it is a special memory in my memory.
The film itself and the movie work are extraordinary, and the unrealistic aspects are large, but as I grow up, I realized that I wanted to make a movie work.It is an industry that only a handful of people can be a person, so I had to convince myself whether I was prepared to make a movie.
—— How did you convince yourself?
Branch: I said I liked movies, but I was worried about whether it was really so, whether I was prepared to try a narrow gate. But as I looked back on the past, I remembered that I was saved in a movie when I worked hard when I was a junior high school student.Looking at the making of the work, junior high school students were talking about the hero, but it was fresh for adults to shoot. There are so many adults involved. When I entered this world, I felt that myself and myself might be saved, and I wanted to get involved in the film industry.
—— Impression that there are many teenagers, including new works.
Shrine: I'm 27 years old, and I don't know my 30 -year -old experience.Of course, I don't know both 50 or 60 years old. When directing or writing a script, I think it is important to face the sense of "understand" in good faith.I don't really like making it with the intention of knowing. In that case, the only feeling that I know in time is a big school days.
—— Is there anything you are conscious to do not become “understandable”?
Branch: It is true for works that draw teens, but I don't want to make something for someone. It is difficult to say "for a young child" or "for everyone".Of course, if you have a client work, you may think about the target layer, but things that are not vaguely have to be "made for people".
——Why is that?
Branch: Probably, I think that such a work is gazing from the top somewhere, and as a sense, "I understand" is transmitted."I guess this person is going to understand. I don't know at all," I often feel.I don't want people who have never hit the same problem say, "I understand that feeling, it's hard, but if you do this ..."I try not to make a work for someone so that I don't do that.
