MMD Research Institute's "January 2022 Smartphone Payment (QR Code) Usage Trend Survey" is between the ages of 18 and 69. It was conducted online from January 1 to January 5, 2022 for men and women, and valid responses were received from 44,727 people. Survey results are weighted back to match the population composition of the collected sample. The percentage of “currently using” is gradually increasing compared to 33.3% in January 2021 and 35.5% in July 2021.
When we asked the respondents who are currently using QR code payment which QR code payment service they use most, < b> "PayPay" was the top at 45.4%, followed by "d payment" and "Rakuten Pay" at 16.7%, and "au PAY" at 13.5%. Compared to the July 2021 survey, “Rakuten Pay” increased by 1.9 points, “au PAY” increased by 0.1 points, “PayPay” decreased by 0.7 points, and “d Payment” decreased by 0.1 points. When to start using the most used QR code payment service, excluding “I don’t remember” (36.9%), “January to June 2020” was 11.5%, and “January to June 2021”. was 9.1%, and “July to December 2021” was 8.7%. Respondents who started using it after January 2020 accounted for 37.7%.
