The reality that calling services are not needed

With DoCoMo's ahamo, the basic charge includes free domestic calls for 5 minutes. However, when the povo service was launched, au provided an equivalent service as an option called topping and lowered the apparent basic charge. In March 2021, when the first service was launched, this made the apparent base rate appear cheaper than ahamo.

At the au briefing held in January 2021, it was revealed that more than 60% of au users in their 20s spend only 10 minutes on the phone each month. Therefore, there was an explanation that plans such as "all-you-can-eat" were separated from the service.

　Since many users make calls using free services attached to SNS such as LINE and Messenger, it was decided that the call service provided by the telecommunications carrier was not necessary.

I understand this very well. Far from all-you-can-call, even if you can't make calls, you don't have to worry too much. A service dedicated to data communication is sufficient. However, there are times when it is necessary to contact someone who cannot communicate via SNS, and in most cases, for the sake of insurance, a contract is made for a service that allows high-cost calls.
