Recently, each carrier has prepared a large-capacity communication plan, and there should be many users who use streaming services such as videos on their Xperia. If you have a plan such as 30GB or 50GB, you can't use it with Xperia communication alone, so we recommend using the tethering function to connect to a computer or tablet.
To turn on the tethering function, access "Network and Internet" → "Tethering" → "Wi-Fi tethering" from the settings and tap the button to enable the function. USB tethering and Bluetooth tethering are also available, but Wi-Fi tethering is easy to use for connecting to other devices, so basically choose this.
From Settings, tap "Network & Internet"
There is an item called tethering
Choose Wi-Fi tethering
If you tap the button on the top right of the screen to turn it on, you can start tethering.
However, with this method, it is surprisingly troublesome because you have to move from the setting menu to a fairly deep hierarchy. An easier way to turn it on is to use the status bar quick settings. To operate, just swipe from the top of the screen to call up quick settings and tap the icon for tethering.
Just tap the tethering icon in the quick settings, so there are few steps and it's easy
Furthermore, if you customize the quick settings screen and place the tethering icons up to the first 6, it will be convenient because the icons will be displayed without having to swipe the quick settings screen to call them all.
Sort icons in quick settings
The icon can be operated by simply pulling out the notification
For users who frequently use tethering, customize the layout of the quick settings so that they can be used immediately!
*Verified with Xperia XZ3 (Softbank version)/Android 9.
